Mark your calendars! September 22nd is the day for this year’s Dusk-to-Dawn Horrorfest at the Midway Drive-In, in Dixon, IL. If you haven’t ever experienced an all night horror movie marathon at a drive-in theater, then now is your chance.
They have only announced two of the four features that will be playing this year, but so far it is starting to look pretty impressive! The first one is John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982). The very first time I got to see this title was at a drive-in theater (the second billing after Enter the Ninja!). I’ve seen it a few times since then, both in a regular theater as well as a couple of times at the drive-in. And with all that, I’m still excited to be able to see it once again there!
The second feature announced is Tobe Hooper’s The Funhouse (1981). While not the one usually brought up when talking about Hooper films, it still is a pretty damn entertaining film. It has been years since I’ve seen this one (and never at a drive-in), so I’m really looking forward to it!
