Things have been very busy around here at the Krypt over the last couple of weeks. This last weekend, we had our annual Turkey Day in May event, which was great fun, this time being a Best of Turkey Day! Such a great time getting a bunch of like minded film fiends together to devour a bunch of films that most people would turn their nose up at. We’ll have a full report coming at some point.
Speaking of reports, we’re still putting the finishing touches up on Texas Frightmare report as well, so stay tuned for more stories and photos from that event.
But this weekend, we’ll be heading to Columbus Ohio for the Cinevent Classic Film Convention. This show that takes place over 4 days, from Thursday the 25th through Sunday the 28th, and is geared more towards the collector of film and movie memorabilia. No celebs here with overpriced autographs but just a bunch of dealers selling their wares, myself included! We had a lot of fun there last year, so we’re going to go back once again.
While this show is memorabilia from all the different genres, but it does have its share of horror. We found a few great deals to add to our collection last year, and hope to again this year.
And if you get bored in the dealer room, they have movies playing on 16mm all weekend long. Once again, most of these titles are non-horror, but they do have a couple that I’m excited to see. On Friday night (if I can stay awake) at midnight, they will be screening Man Made Monster (1941), starring Lon Chaney Jr. and Lionel Atwill, which is one of my favorites from my childhood. Then on Saturday night at midnight, they will be screening Bert I. Gordon’s The Amazing Colossal Man (1957).
So if you’re going to be in the Columbus area this weekend, stop by and say hello! We’ll be set up there all weekend. For all the information about the show, click HERE to get to the official website.
