Scream Factory Announces Blood and Lace

blood&lacehalfsheetScream Factory has recently announced a slew of new titles they will be releasing, some of them making their debut on blu-ray, while some have already had a blu-ray release, and some that are in much neeed a special edition. Granted, we don’t know of any details as far as extras for any of them, but are very anxious on a few of them. Here’s the list of what they’ve announced:

  • Women’s Prison Massacre (1983)
  • Blood and Lace (1971)
  • Troll (1986) & Troll 2 (1990) double feature
  • Ghost Story (1981)
  • The Guardian (1990)
  • The Car (1977)
  • Nightmares (1983)
  • Death Becomes Her (1992)
  • Garbage Pail Kids: The Movie (1987)
  • Return of the Living Dead (1985)

Now, honestly, do we need another version of Return of the Living Dead? Sure, I love the movie. But this is the 2nd or 3rd release on Blu-ray? Is that really necessary? Just saying.

And while Ghost Story isn’t the greatest movie out there (in my opinion), it does have its charm, along with a great cast, so I’m interested to see what extras that might have.

I am VERY interested and excited to see The Car listed, since that has been a childhood favorite of mine, even though it was years after then when I actually got to see it. I was thrilled when it first got a DVD release but of course had no extras in it, so really curious as to what they are going to have on this one.

bloodandlaceBut, the real excitement about these titles is the release of Philip S. Gilbert’s Blood and Lace, which will be the very first time this is getting any kind of release. Never on VHS, or laserdisc, or DVD, this is one of the most twisted, depraved, demented horror films you’ll ever see….that is rated PG! The story is about a boarding house for underaged youths, sort of like an orphanage, run by Gloria Grahame, who does whatever she can to make sure she has money coming in from the state. Meaning that sleeping with the state inspector to keeping corpses of kids that have tried to escape in the freezer before putting them in the infirmary to keep up the head count before inspection, there is nothing she won’t do. Then of course you have the handy man that is trying to get handy with the underaged girls that live there. Like I said, twisted, but damn entertaining. So we have our fingers crossed as to what they are going to do with this little gem.

  1. I have never seen Blood and Lace, so I’m really looking forward to that one (household rule: if you buy the poster, you have to watch the movie)! I agree with you on Ghost Story and I’d also like to see if Death Becomes Her is as much fun as I remember. However, I caved in and bought the Arrow blu of The Car a few months back, so I’m set.

Scream can keep all the copies of The Garbage Pail Kids.
